Fun, scary, silly
3 things camping
should be.
Roasting marshmallows,
Making s’mores, 2 things
you should try.
(Poem by Chelsea T)
Camp was a wonderful time together. We were able to dig up glow in the dark gems and some groups were able to find twelve or more gems in two minutes after finding creative ways to crack open the bricks. Another activity taught us how to create a big fire to roast some yummy banana s’mores. Teachers enjoyed watching the students run around and have fun. Many students said their favourite part was spending time with their best friends.
After the activities, we came back to school to set up our tents on the sixth floor. It was fun and we talked a lot, some people were able to quickly fall asleep, but some couldn’t.
In the morning, everyone had to pack up their belongings into their big bags and carry it up all the stairs in the building. Tidying up was hard because it was so messy inside our tents! We survived carrying our bags up, even though they were so heavy.
On our second day together, we did a frisbee toss and jump rope as part of the Star Challenge. This had everyone going to different stations and trying to get as many points as we can. We ended the day with an egg drop, where the teams had to protect an egg from cracking when it was thrown up and down.
Throughout camp, we learned that some things are hard (like getting up at 5AM) and some things are easy. Kindness was a key word that our APA facilitators kept reminding us about, they said to be kind and to try our best. Congratulations to all the grade 3s! You all did amazing!
