CDNIS’s Habitat for Humanity Student Chapter Club recently hosted its Paint Your Frame Event, uniting lower school students, faculty, and community members in a vibrant celebration of creativity and community spirit. Held on the mornings of November 24th to November 28th in the sixth-floor cafeteria, the event was a remarkable success, bringing people together for a noble cause.
Started by a dedicated group of students committed to supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity, the club focuses on advocating about the HK housing crisis through volunteering and teamwork. The club has hosted various events during the school year, including Paint Your ____, Hoops for Habitat, Project HomeWorks, Christmas festivities, and more.
Paint Your Frame is an engaging advocacy event designed to bring together lower school students and community members for a week of creativity and purpose. Lower school students found joy in painting and personalising their frames with unique designs, engaging with the club’s aims, and advocating for the importance of affordable housing. More than just an art activity, it was an opportunity for more than four-hundred lower school students, ranging from Prep to Grade 5, to support a greater cause. The series of Paint Your _____ events started in 2010 with Paint Your Brick. Followed by Paint Your House in 2011, Paint Your Shirt in 2012, and so on.
Ultimately, the Habitat for Humanity Student Chapter would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who participated, donated, and volunteered. Your support made this event possible and has resulted in over $40,000 HKD in donations. The funds raised from Paint Your Frame will be directly donated to Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong, supporting their mission to provide affordable housing for families in our community. This financial contribution assists in various aspects of Habitat’s work, from purchasing materials for home construction to supporting community development initiatives.
The success of the annual “Paint Your Frame” event left everyone eager for other future initiatives, and the CDNIS’s Habitat for Humanity Student Chapter looks forward to hosting more events that unite our school and support families in need.
