Food, shopping, and all-around fun! On Sunday, 24th of November, the CDNIS carnival
opened its doors to students, parents, teachers, and other members of the school com-
munity. Lines for the shuttle to and from the school stretched long and wide in the Wong
Chuk Hang MTR station, causing a bustling atmosphere of excitement to permeate from
person to person.
Upon entering the carnival through the 9th floor school entrances, carnival goers were
faced with a dilemma; should they go upwards towards the secondhand bookshop and
christmas bazaar, or head downwards to explore traditional carnival rides and games?
Regardless of which direction they chose to go in, excitement buzzed around.
Opportunities to shop were far and wide; on 8th and 4th floors, numerous businesses
selling anything from handmade crafts to educational goods made themselves at home,
attracting students and parents alike. On the 12th floor, an assortment of festive goods
were made available in the christmas bazaar. From sugarfina snacks to jellycat dolls,
there was no shortage of goods that people would want to bring home.
While parents shopped, children found their amusement in the variety of carnival games
available on the 3rd, 6th, and 11th floors. A large bouncy house dominated the 6th floor
pitch; traditional carnival games, complete with prizes, welcomed visitors in the 3rd
floor gym; the slipper-toss game on the 11th floor attracted a long line of players, each
vying to toss their slippers higher than the last. Upper School students and CAPs joined
in on the fun, running club-specific booths on the 3rd floor pitch. For those who wanted
to experience a taste of technology, VR games and a flight simulator were available to
play, adding a touch of modernity to the carnival. Loud cheers were heard all around as
players won large prizes.
A variety of foods were available at the 3rd, 6th, and 12th foods for visitors to peruse.
Parents of different cultures manned the 6th floor international foods booth, spreading
international mindedness through the school community, while the school collaborated
with professional caterers like Shake Shack and HaiDiLao to add a touch of professionali-
ty to the carnival’s meals. From the carnival’s start to its finish, food stalls saw an endless
supply of hungry customers waiting to satiate their hunger after having their fun.
