Address:
Shops B, G/F, Yan King Court, 119 Queen’s Rd E, Wan Chai
Vibe Check:
Greeted by the smell of rich aromas, you instantly feel a shift in the environment as you walk into this classy eatery. The traditional Mexican music is overpowering at first but grows on you. The seating is comfortable, and the air conditioning offers a break from the Hong Kong heat.
Food:
As the waiter arrives with your freshly made food, it looks almost too good to eat. Whether it’s an enchilada soaked in seasoning or a taco with beef slowly oozing out of it, you’ll be served a tasty platter of delicious dishes. Although the food on the adult menu is very good, I found that food on the kids’ menu doesn’t live up to the regular menu and comes in significantly smaller portions. I recommend sticking to the adult menu. We ordered nachos, tacos and an enchilada. Though their menu included crickets, brisket and so much more, the churro was a personal highlight.
Service:
As soon as you walk through the door you’re kindly greeted and taken to your seat. Waiting for you is a cold cup of cucumber water and the menus. Great service.
Location:
Within walking distance of the MTR. Easy to find.
Overall:
I would rank El Taquero as 4/5.
