For the past 2 to 3 months, Grade 5 students have been working on an exciting project that they were delighted to share with the school, with the project being one of the most important events in Lower School. The students were able to use their communication, social, and research skills to collaborate with members of their groups that were decided by similarities of the students’ chosen topic.
On the first day of the presentation, the Early Years, Grade 1-4’s, 6’s, and 8’s all came to the library to see us share our learning. On the second day of the exhibition, families and students and teachers from VSA came to see us present. This was an excellent opportunity for parents to see how hard their kids have worked on this project, as well as giving other schools a chance to get some ideas for their own exhibitions.
In art, Ms. Mona guided us in making an artwork that represents who we are. Students had the chance to print out photos that they thought represented them, such as their favourite soccer team, and stick them onto a canvas. Then, we chose our favourite cartoon character, such as Mickey Mouse and we drew it out and stuck it onto the canvas. We then customised the character to look more like us. The art from the grade was later displayed in the library pit for the rest of the school to see.
Grade 5 would like to take this as an opportunity to thank all the teachers and parents who made this project possible, as they have guided and supported us through our PYP journey.
A big thank you to Ms. G, Mr. Minor, Mr. Ryan, Ms. Costner, Ms. Winnie, Ms. Rashi, the LLAC staff, the VA team and the PA team, who have all encouraged and been kind to us.
Thank you parents, teachers, friends and mentors who made this exhibition possible!
